Most seven-year-old girls want a princess party and friends to come over and play, but when I asked Aves what she wanted she looked at me with a big smile and said, “An Adventure, mommy!”

“An Adventure, what kind of adventure?” I asked. She said, “Let’s go fishing!” And so we did.

I got in touch with my friends at Griffin Fishing Charters & Lodge in  Barataria, Louisiana, and booked us a trip. And what a great trip it was!!! I can always count on them to come through with a great time fishing.

Averi’s big catch!!!

Look at that smile. Baby girl had a great time and a super cool adventure. And look at that fish. It’s almost as big as her. She had to have help reeling that big boy in but she didn’t even hesitate. She was laying down on that reel like a pro. She was working on it. We were all so excited and she had a smile the size of Texas. She was proud of that catch. And we were proud of her for being so cool about it. Way to go baby girl!!!

Aves was pulling them in like a pro. Once again, she completely blew away the guide’s mind with how well she handles herself when fishing. Her only problem is she gets so carried away (literally) while reeling these big fish in they almost pull her overboard. We had to keep a hand on her at all times so we didn’t lose her.

It’s almost as big as her!!!

She hooked this one and yelled, “I need help!” It was pulling her in over the edge but she wasn’t letting go. What a monster!!! This girl’s a mess. A Fishing Fool she is. Laughing and loving it.

It was a great day for fishing and everyone had an awesome time. We caught a couple of stingrays. Just look at that catch, aren’t they beautiful. Those reds were good eating too.

And of course, the guide and folks at Griffin Fishing Charters were the best as always. As always they made sure we had a super good time. We stayed in the lodge which is really nice. Y’all I just can’t say enough good things about these folks. They are the best. Be sure to check out my post on this great charter service- Griffin Fishing Charters.

Of course, what’s a trip without checking out the local food. We went to dinner at Voleo’s Seafood Restaurant in Lafitte, Louisiana for some good Louisiana Cajun/ German cooking. We tried out the flounder jambalaya and the Pizza. It was delicious.

And we also made a stop at the Acme Oyster House for oysters, of course, roast beef po’boy with gumbo, Voodoo Bloody Mary (adults only). The food was beautiful!!! I mean just look at it. Wow!!! It tasted as good as it looked. I love Louisiana. We have some of the best food ever!!!

We had a wonderful, fun-filled, too-much-food-eating weekend adventure. Aves is still talking about it and ready to go back fishing. “We were making memories'” she said. For some reason “making memories” seems to be her thing these days. Whatta kid!!! And what a good time we had. I like Averi’s ideas of adventure. Can’t wait to go on another.
